The book asks to be checked rather than believed — and that request is worth nothing unless an error, once demonstrated, is actually fixed, and unless the fixing is public. This page is that record. A new line appearing here is the mechanism working, not the book failing.

Correction 1 — Chapter 37, custody-loss statistic (version 1.0.2, August 2026)
What the text said: that in the largest study of how American family courts handle abuse allegations, "about half of the mothers who reported abuse lost custody to the parent they had accused" — stating the figure as an overall rate.
What it says now: more than a quarter of the mothers who reported abuse lost custody overall, and the rate rises to about half when the father answers the abuse allegation with a cross-claim of "alienation." The endnote now carries the exact published figures: 28.4% (384/1,353) of all such cases overall, roughly doubling to an average of 49.7% where alienation was cross-claimed, with a pinpoint citation to Joan S. Meier, "Denial of Family Violence in Court: An Empirical Analysis and Path Forward for Family Law," Georgetown Law Journal 110 (2022): 835, at 852, 886.
Why: a reader checked the book's description of the study against the published data and demonstrated that the "about half" figure applies only to the subset of cases involving an alienation cross-claim, not to all cases of mothers alleging abuse. They were right; the text overstated the overall rate, and the study's own gradient — the doubling effect of the alienation cross-claim — is precisely the book's point and is stated more accurately now.
No contested matters have been recorded to date. Where a genuine dispute arises that checking cannot settle, the book's stated policy is to record the disagreement alongside the claim rather than resolve it silently — including the complainant's own stated position, within reason, verbatim. Such entries will appear here too.
